Follow a guided diagnosis
Who can do this:Every role
Transcript
- When the cause is not obvious, the AI Service Engineer works through it with you, one step at a time.
- This time the job is a KP-150 centrifugal pump at a paper mill.
- Describe what you see and hear, and send it.
- The diagnosis weighs every cause the knowledge holds for this fault, with the evidence for each.
- The next step says what to check or measure next, and how.
- Enter the reading you took and submit it.
- The assistant takes the reading into account and narrows the causes down.
- Every step stays in the conversation, so a colleague or an expert can follow the reasoning later.
When the cause of a fault is not obvious, the AI Service Engineer does not stop at one answer. It weighs every cause your knowledge holds for the symptom, proposes the check that best separates them and updates its view with what you find.
Step by step
Section titled “Step by step”- Set the machine context and describe the fault, as in Ask the AI Service Engineer.
- Read the Diagnosis. Causes are marked likely, possible, unlikely or ruled out, and the numbers in brackets point to the evidence each one rests on.
- Look at the Next step. It is a question, an action or a measurement; for a measurement it shows the quantity, the unit and the range the value should be in.
- Take the measurement and enter the value under Reading, then choose Submit reading. The assistant answers again with the reading taken into account.
- Repeat until one cause is confirmed, then fix it and record the case.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Answer the assistant’s follow-up questions in the box below the conversation; they are asked when an answer depends on information you have not given yet, such as the revision or what changed before the fault.
- The ranges come from the measurement items of your knowledge. When two documents give different ranges, the knowledge team sees it under Contradictions.
- Similar closed cases count as evidence too: a cause that fixed the same error code on the same model several times ranks higher.
